How We Work

Editorial Standards

Talvero Quarterly operates under a defined set of editorial principles. This page documents those principles in full: the selection process, the review structure, the sourcing standards, and the correction protocol. Transparency in these matters is not optional for a publication that takes its subject seriously.

The Editorial Commitment

Talvero Quarterly is an independent editorial publication focused on everyday wellness practices. The publication is not affiliated with any commercial, governmental, or institutional body.

Talvero Quarterly operates under the following editorial principles: articles are reviewed by at least one second editor before publication, sources are cited where appropriate, corrections are noted publicly, and writers disclose any commercial relationships that could influence their selection of subject matter.

Articles published on Talvero Quarterly are editorial in nature and reflect the writers' observations on everyday wellness practices. The content is not intended as professional guidance, nor as guidance for the management of any specific condition. Readers with specific concerns about their daily routines are encouraged to speak with a qualified wellness professional.

From Proposal to Publication

Each article in Talvero Quarterly moves through a defined sequence before publication. The steps below describe that sequence in full.

01
Topic Proposal

The writer submits a brief proposal to the editorial team. The proposal describes the subject, the primary angle, the intended audience within the beginner fitness readership, and any sources the writer intends to draw upon. Proposals without a defined audience or without at least one published source to reference are returned for revision before progressing.

02
Editorial Approval

The editor in chief reviews the proposal against the current editorial calendar. Proposals are approved, returned with revision requests, or declined. Declined proposals receive a brief explanation. Approved proposals are assigned a target publication date and a word count range.

03
First Draft Submission

The writer submits a complete first draft. The draft is reviewed by the commissioning editor for structural coherence, factual accuracy against cited sources, and compliance with the publication's editorial vocabulary. A written response is returned within 48 hours.

04
Second Editor Review

All articles undergo a second editor review before publication. The second editor checks the piece independently for factual claims, source accuracy, tonal consistency with the publication's register, and vocabulary compliance. This review is not a copy-edit — it is a substantive editorial check. Discrepancies between the first and second reviews are resolved before publication.

05
Final Approval and Publication

The editor in chief provides final approval. The article is formatted for publication, assigned its metadata (author, date, reading time, category), and published on the site. The writer receives a notification. The publication date and version are archived internally.

06
Post-Publication Monitoring

All published articles are monitored for reader correspondence relating to factual accuracy. Corrections submitted by readers are assessed within five working days. Verified corrections are applied to the article and noted at the foot of the piece with the date of correction. No corrections are made silently.

What We Hold Ourselves To

01
Source Transparency

Any factual claim derived from published exercise science is cited in the article. Claims that cannot be supported by a citable source are either removed or clearly labelled as the writer's observation.

02
Commercial Disclosure

Writers disclose any commercial relationship that could influence the selection or framing of subject matter. Disclosed relationships are noted at the foot of the relevant article.

03
Vocabulary Compliance

The publication maintains a defined vocabulary standard that excludes overclaimed wellness language and any phrasing that conflates editorial commentary with professional guidance.

04
Reader Correspondence

All reader correspondence is read by a member of the editorial team. Letters of editorial interest may be published with the correspondent's permission. Correction requests are acted upon within five working days.

05
Independence from Advertising

Talvero Quarterly does not carry paid advertising. No commercial relationship influences the selection of topics, the framing of articles, or the editorial decisions of the publication.

06
Audience Specificity

Every article is written for a defined audience: adults beginning an active life from a sedentary baseline. Content that assumes prior fitness experience or existing knowledge of training terminology is revised before publication.

What We Use as Sources

The source hierarchy below defines how factual claims are verified and cited in Talvero Quarterly articles. Sources are ranked by their position in this hierarchy, with higher-ranked sources taking precedence in cases of conflicting claims.

Peer-Reviewed Exercise Science Publications

Journals indexed in MEDLINE, SPORTDiscus, or CINAHL. These are the primary reference source for claims about exercise physiology, movement biomechanics, and habit formation research. Where such a source exists for a claim, it is used.

Published Guidelines from Established Bodies

Guidance documents from organisations such as the UK Chief Wellness Officers, the American College of Sports and Exercise Science, or equivalent national bodies. Used where peer-reviewed sources are not available or where guidelines represent the current consensus position.

Documented Practitioner Knowledge

Observations from qualified movement and fitness professionals, cited by name and specialism. Used to contextualise research findings for a beginner audience. Not used as the primary basis for factual claims.

Reader Correspondence and Documented Experience

First-person accounts from readers who have followed programmes described in the publication, used where explicitly identified as such. These are archival and observational — they are not treated as evidence for factual claims.

Writer Observation

The writer's own perspective, clearly labelled as such. Used only in the context of documented practice and never as a substitute for a citable source on a factual question.

The Correction Protocol

The following protocol governs how corrections are handled. It applies to all published articles, regardless of date of publication.

Correction Protocol — Revision 03, January 2026

When a reader or editorial team member identifies a factual error, a broken reference, or a significant omission in a published article, the following sequence applies: (1) The correction request is logged and assigned to the commissioning editor within one working day. (2) The claim in question is assessed against the original sources used in the article. (3) If the correction is verified, the article is updated within five working days. (4) A correction note is appended to the article at the point of the change, including the date of correction and a brief description of what was changed. (5) No corrections are made silently. (6) If the correction request is not verified, the correspondent is informed of the assessment and the reasoning within five working days.

To submit a correction, use the contact form on the Contact page and select “Editorial Correction” as the subject. Include the article title, the specific passage, and the correction you are proposing.
